Michael Grimm opposes same sex marriage and i strongly disagree with that. Being republican and probably close minded, this is not surprising. However, i believe that you love someone for what's on the inside and true love should be cherished and not shunned. On a more social note, if same sex marriage was banned then wouldn't he vote for same sex couples not being allowed to adopt? I believe that would leave so many thousands of kids in adoption agencies waiting to be adopted meanwhile a steady income, healthy family could be available.
ReplyDeleteAlso, he is for drilling the outer continental shelf and opening more nuke plants, which I HIGHLY disagree with. I'm all for the environment, and this is just so republican.
Jumaane willams believes in having a safer community. I agree with this because he wants what is best for the people and for himself. Another thing is that he also believe in the public school education because he is an example that public schooling can work for kids.
ReplyDeleteEdolphus Towns is the democratic representative for district 10. From what I've read, it seems he is very concerned with education and seems to try and fight for the borough that is Brooklyn. Leaning toward more of the democratic side myself, I admire this in him. It seems he actually cares about the people, although after reading more I also see he had some fraud charges against him. But then again most politicians are corrupt in some way.
ReplyDeleteYvette D. Clarke is the representative for district 11. She is an democrat. Yvette D. Clarke is from Brooklyn, she also embraces her Jamaican heritage. In 2009, Yvette D. Clarke's Floor Statement Supported the Affordable Healthcare for America Act which would improve employer based coverage for 367,000 residents, provide credits to help pay for coverage for up to 160,000 households, and allow 11,300 small businesses to have affordable health care coverage. After researching Ms. Clarke floor history I could say that she's doing her job right, I don't have any concerns.
ReplyDeleteMichael Grimm is a republican representative for district 13. He was born in Brooklyn and was raised in Queens. He graduated from Archbishop Molloy high school. In 1988 he entered active duty in the US Marine and in 1989 he was deployed to Iraq from Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Michael Grimm had received a combat promotion meritoriously to Corporal, Combat Action Ribbon, US Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, the Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon, and other medals. He was discharged from the US Marine Corps in 1997. Michael Grimm received a BBA in accounting from M. Baruch College in 1994. He received a Juris Doctor (Magna Cum Laude) from New York Law School in 2002. He then became a member of the New York and Connecticut.
ReplyDeleteMichael Grimm refused to tell citizens where he stands on any of the issues addressed in the 2012 Political Courage Test, despite repeated requests from Vote Smart, national media, and prominent political leaders. The Reason why I choose this view is because I feel that a candidate should be willing to provide information based on what the public is asking. Even though he or she might have an answer at that moment he or she should inform that he is not sure of the answer but that he would look in to it.
Michael Grimm is a Republican in District 13. On the Committee on Financial Services with the following Subcommittees: Capital Markets and Government Sponsored Enterprises Subcommittee; Domestic Monetary Policy and Technology Subcommittee; Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit Subcommittee; Insurance, Housing and Community Opportunity Subcommittee; International Monetary Policy and Trade Subcommittee; and Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee.
ReplyDeleteHe was a Marine who served in the Gulf War and is a U.S. Marshal. He owns a health food restaurant in Manhattan. He opposes government-run healthcare because he believes that anyone other than the government should be responsible to providing health care services to the people. I disagree with this view, because what would happen to the elderly who are fixed income and the people below the poverty level who cannot afford to pay for health insurance plans. Letting private companies who are only looking to seek profits offer these insurance plans will mean that a lot of people will have no insurance at all. I believe the government should link IRS, birth, marriage, and death record offices to find those people who are abusing the system and force them to pay back what they stole from the people who really need the service.
Congressman Edolphus Towns supports many issues that I think an ideal democratic representative should support. For example Congressman Towns believes in not discriminating against gays, he fights for smaller classrooms to improve academic success, and help make homes more available for people. He also promotes bills to Congress that support a more healthier environment because he wants to make the future for the children more safer. All of these are just some of the many good things that Congressman Towns wants for New York and America.
ReplyDeleteJerrold Lewis "Jerry" Nadler (born June 13, 1947) is the U.S. Representative for New York's 8th congressional district, serving since 1992. He is a member of the Democratic Party.
ReplyDeleteThe district includes the west side of Manhattan from the Upper West Side down to Battery Park, including the site where the World Trade Center stood. It also includes the Manhattan neighborhoods of Chelsea, Hell's Kitchen, and Greenwich Village, as well as parts of Brooklyn such as Coney Island, Bensonhurst, Borough Park, and Bay Ridge. It includes many of New York City's most popular tourist attractions, including the Empire State Building, Central Park, Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn Bridge and New York Stock Exchange.
I like Michael Grimm already. He is Republican representative for the Ninth district. He's pretty much the epitome of everything I argue for in this class (self-explanatory). I am not anti-Democrat or pro-Republican (to be totally honest) I just like whoever happens to support what I believe in.
ReplyDelete:) Hurray for Mr. Grimm.... ^_^
Michael Grimm is another ignorant republican. I have not seen any major improvements around my neighborhood or the surrounding neighborhoods within the district yet his signs are everywhere begging people to vote for him. To be quiet honest I don't think anyone even knows who he is if they never even saw those flyers. His views reflect those similar to the tea party and was endorsed by many high profile republicans such as Rudy Giuliani. Grimm was an FBI agent during the 90's and abused his power by pulling out a gun in a night club. I don't think his violent past will benefit this community or anyone for that matter. He sounds abusive and useless.
ReplyDeleteMost seniors, myself included, will be going off to college next year. One of my major concerns isn't only picking a college to apply to, but also figuring out how I am going to pay for college. Edolphus Towns of District 10 seems concerned about this issue as well. In fact, he was a sponsor of the College Debt Swap Act of 2010 which helped students with their college loans. He also supported the Health Care and Education Affordability Reconciliation Act which saved taxpayers approximately 61 billion dollars over a ten year period. Moreover, Towns helped out public high schools as well. He supported the 21st Century Green High-Preforming Public Schools Facility Act which provided schools with the funding they needed to become more energy-efficient. Like so many others, Education has been such an important part of my life. I am fond of anyone who supports modernizing schools, and giving students an opportunity to excel.

Turner introduced the TEACH Act of 2012. It would provide a federal tax credit of up to $5,000 per year to families who send their children to non-public K-12 schools. With this act, Turner’s goal is to improve the “double taxation” burdening on parents who pay for local school taxes and private schooling tuition. The Act is currently in committee. I agree with Turner and the TEACH Act of 2012. I believe that parents should still pay for the local school tax, but they should get a break if they send their children to private schools.

I believe that this act should be passed.

ReplyDeleteRecently, Nadler issued the following statement in response to the Obama administration’s proposal for $60 billion towards Sandy recovery in New York, New Jersey, and neighboring states: "$60 billion will provide critical relief and begin the rebuilding process in New York and New Jersey, where Hurricane Sandy has had an immeasurable impact. The White House has been very responsive to assessments of damage and need from Governors Cuomo and Christie and has clearly prioritized Sandy recovery in its budgeting.." I think he is an active and strong congressman.
