(ALSO PLEASE VOTE ON THE RIGHT FOR THE BETTER SPEECH!)
Romney and Ryan's speeches: One strong point that they made was the fact that Romney had more experience in the buisness world than Obama. Another point they discussed was the building of the American community, the American family, and American progress. However, they contradicted themselves slighty in certian things they said. For example, Ryan criticized Obama for " trying to sail on yesterday's wind", yet Romney and Ryan are the ones who seem to want to go back to older systems and previous practices.
ReplyDeleteBill Clinton's speech: His speech was powerful because it instilled feelings of prosperity, progress, and growth. He focused his speech around unity, and " constructive cooperation". I think that is what really captured Americans.
Former president Bill Clinton said that President Obama came into office to fix the economy, fight for healthcare reform, create more jobs, improve education in America, and end the war in Iraq.
ReplyDeleteMitt Romney and Paul Ryan took a long time to start talking about what they were going to do if elected. They mostly highlighted what they were going to do and did not go into specifics. Both Paul and Mitt spoke of the wrong that President Obama did and how they were going to fix America.

Obama's speech: President Obama has always been a very eloquent speaker. He uses humor to influence us to vote for him or to be on his side, which I must admit is quite useful to his campaign. Getting his "fans" to laugh is always a nice ice breaker for the start of a speech. He points out the flaws in his opponents, the fact that they want to go back to the old ways of running this country. "Tax breaks, and more tax breaks", which is a solid point but it's probably his only point as well. The president hasn't done so bad thus far, we're keeping afloat as a country and essentially the point of his speech was to ask for four more years, which I think he might get after all.
ReplyDeleteBill Clinton's speech: Former President Bill Clinton made a very valid point when saying that keeping this country together and relying on each other is better than being on your own. He also pointed out that democrats have created more jobs and have made more money, that money being $42 million. He essentially wants to keep the country united and strong which is what many people in the country want as well. It's the truth when he says we're better off together. Because separate, we are weaker.
Romney & Ryan's speech(s): Govenor Romney seems to be riding on the old traditions of America. He starts out talking about optimism, and why we came to America in the first place but he doesn't realize that it was such a long time ago. He needs to focus on the plans for the future instead of worrying about what we did in the past. He takes far too long to get to his point and worries more about the "what ifs" or the "supposed to's". He can't change what has already happened, he needs to stop focusing on things he can't change. As for Paul Ryan's speech, he seems to be a more eloquent speaker than Mitt Romney. He's get's straight to the point saying that Mitt Romney is the right choice instead of giving us the run around. He points out that the recovery promised isn't here yet, which is a valid statement. We're not completely recovered but then again we can't expected to be after just four years when it took other president's at least 8 years to fix previous problems in this country. He makes the obvious complaint about Obamacare which is reasonable, considering many Americans are frustrated over it.
Overall, I actually think Paul Ryan had a better speech even though he's only the "to be" V.P. President Obama is a very good speaker but he avoids many of the issues at hand, and Mitt Romney ran around most of the issues throughout the entire speech.
Bill Clinton's speech shows his strong feelings about how he believes that President Obama's ideas and actions are needed more in America. He was able to hit many points and problems that needed to be fixed. Clinton also expressed that Obama's previous actions to improve these problems, such as health care and education, improved the lives of many Americans immensely.
ReplyDeleteRomney stated that Americans deserved what President Obama had promised in his HOPE campaign, but did not receive what they were expecting. He believed President Obama's plans to fix businesses and the economy partially failed because of his lack of knowledge in business, unlike Romney.
Ryan went against Obama and quoted things that he said he would do, but did not. Ryan states Obama did exactly nothing about those that were in debt, and that Republicans were the ones that stepped up. Ryan enforces his feelings about how President Obama does nothing.
I feel as if Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan's speeches did not have any strong points. I also feel that it took them very long to get to the point and to talk about what they would do if they were to be elected to the presidency. When they did talk about what they would do, they didn't speak about the details, they kept it broad. I did not like that Mitt Romney said that "Americans got what they deserve" and i felt he was being sarcastic. Also Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan spoke bad about President Obama.
ReplyDeleteBill Clinton had very good ideas about the middle class and he spoke very highly about President Obama. his speech was well organized.
-Stephanie Hahn
I feel that both Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan speeches focused on mainly their family back grounds and the love ones rather then what they really wanted to do for the united States. Just as President Clinton had explanied if you want to vote for someone who mainly has showed us how much he loves his family and how little he could do for the Americans then vote for Mitt Romney. where as President Bill clinton has spoke about how President Obama job was to take upon the dept of America and better our ecomony, however no president past or futer would be able to slove our problem completely with in four years. Therefore in order for us to succeed we should vote for President Obama to better our goverment as united with the people and not stand on it own. Corperation is what will let America to a better futer.
ReplyDelete-Tina Herteloo
I didn't like how Romney's speech was very broad instead of going into details. He kept repeating about how we need to change America since Obama's presidency but he really didn't say how. Paul Ryan and also Romney's speeches were focused more on their family background, and trash talking Obama and how he's left this country in disarray. Clinton even said that if you want someone who shows how much he loves his family yet will do nothing for the country, then to vote for Romney.
ReplyDeleteI like how Clinton's speech highlighted the good things Obama is trying to accomplish, and did accomplish. He said that Obama would find a solution to the national debt and created more job opportunity here in America, instead of overseas. Obama's speech and Clinton's was more focused on the middle class which i thought was an effective way to go since most of the percentage of voters are middle class workers.
-Monica Mangano
I feel that Romney's and Ryan's speeches were mainly attacks on President Obama. They were able to mention all the negatives from the President's term but not the positives. For example they mentioned how the economy is still bad. He failed to mention the state that this country was in before the President's term and how he managed overcome major decline in the economy. They mentioned the things that is wrong with our country but they did not mention how they will fix it. Former President Clinton expressed how he is 100% behind the President. He mentioned the good the President did during his term and the millions of people who now have jobs. Also how the President's plans are still a work in progress.
ReplyDeleteI personally did not like Romney and Ryan's speeches. I felt as if President Obama and Bill Clinton were very charismatic and respectful therefore granting them more strong points. Romney and Ryan spent most of their time bashing the President and spoke in a very boastful tone. Romney's speech opened strong when speaking about immigrants coming to this country during the 1930's and speaking about how America was known as the land of opportunity, as it still is. Romney then continued to bash the president when speaking about empty and unfulfilled promises. He did address the staggering unemployment issue as well as Ryan, playing on the angry emotions of many Americans. Romney also tried playing the sympathy card, speaking about donating to our "small town charities" and the elderly, which also did not impress me. He also spoke about women's right which is almost Ironic for a Republican because they aren't pro-choice.
ReplyDeleteObama's speech I felt also lacked in many areas. He sounded defeated which was not very persuading. He hit many strong points when speaking about gay marriage and immigration, granting that they are "not the source of our issues" which is extremely true. President Obama pointed out that our country has so many other important issues at hand other then to worry about these few communities. Towards the middle of his speech he promised that he would do more then just cut taxes and that he has so much more left to do for the unemployment issue. President Obama also spoke about his achievements towards health care and promises of many other achievements to come such as the distribution of domestic oil. Bill Clinton's speech was very interesting to watch and actually enjoyable. He was extremely respectful towards the Republican party and did not take the time to bash them. Clinton made valid points about how "to not stifle human potential" and that diversity and new research would only help the country.
when watching Romney and Ryan's speeches they had many good and bad points to them. first i liked Romney's support for women in business. other good things Romney states he will do is create 12 million jobs, give skills for people seeking a new job, also by 2020 north America will be energy dependent and also he will come up with trade agreements will various countries. he will also reduce taxes on businesses and will not raise taxes on the middle class. a bad part of the speech was that for the beginning of the speech he talked a lot about his personal life that took up a majority of the speech. Paul Ryan: Paul Ryan's speech got straight to the point on laying down the faults of the obama administration like 760 billion dollars taken away from medicare.I also like that like Romney paul supports women in business. Some thing that was weak to me was about Paul's speech was that he attacked Obama to make him sound better even though that is politics. Bill Clinton: he's speech was telling people minor accomplishments that obama had made. Bill Clinton overall talked very good and said you should listen to him because "he been through this" !
ReplyDeleteStrong points of Mitt Romney's speech: when he said Obama has not succeeded and has disappointed and has made Americans fear for their future. Also when he said how women deserve a say in government. He referred to Obama's term as "the worst economic recovery since the great depression". I liked when he said he would repeal and replace Obamacare.
ReplyDeleteWeak points: At some points I felt he got sidetracked.
Strong points of Paul Ryan's speech: when he said America needs a turn around. He made a very valid point when he said "without a change in leadership, why would the next four years be any different than the last four years?" and when he said Obamacare has no place in a free country.
Bill Clinton's speech: How are we supposed to believe what Clinton said about Obama now when he criticized Obama during the elections in 2008? When his wife was running against Obama, it was convenient to bash Obama. Now its convenient from him to praise Obama. That makes Clinton seem phony.
-Brianna Flood
Romney was saying many things, like how he is going to make the country energy dependent. From what i can tell, i feel like he is saying he will do things but won't come through. The majority of Paul Ryan's speech was attacking Obama. The only thing he said that was of any importance was how Obama has taken away hundreds of billions of dollars from medicare. Clinton's speech, like Obama's, was focused on the middle class. This is a good campaign method because most people who will be voting fall within the middle class. Obama speaks very well, but he isn't really going to anything this term either.
ReplyDeleteNicholas Lupo- I feel that Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan both try to attack obama and abuse him instead of focusing on telling the people what their goals are for the country. I mean Romney did state about opening more jobs in America to send the unemployment rate but i feel Mitt and Paul were very disrespectful towards the president.
ReplyDeleteI liked what Obama had to say about raising the standards for teachers and focusing on helping out the working class which is where most of his votes will come from. Another statement that i think will help Obama is Biden repeating Osama bin laden dead and general motors is alive this can also go as a slogan and catch the peoples attention that can bring more people to support Obama.
It seems to me as if Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney took too long to make their points. It seemed like they were saying more things about Obama as compared to saying what their plans were for changing the country. They both talked about creating more jobs in America in order to lower the unemployment rate, but they seemed to show detestation towards Obama, as compared to telling us the things he is doing wrong, and how they can change those things. In conclusion, I feel that both their speeches were too long and they didn't make me feel the urge to decide on whether to vote for Mitt Romney or Paul Ryan.

ReplyDeleteRomney:
Strong point: Appeals to Americans with flattery saying we are good generous people eager to go back to work, optimistic, and have confidence of our future that we deserve to have higher paying better jobs instead of working two jobs at nine dollars an hour. We deserve to be able to pay for college, help out our parents, and college students should have jobs to pay back their loans. People can relate to what he is saying.
Weak point: He blames all the problems we have on the democrats.
Ryan:
Strong point: He tells Americans that Romney and he are a great team and they will fix all the problems. This is what Americans want to hear. He says he cares about the elderly and Medicare should be made better for them.
Weak point: He puts down Obama and his administration. He lists all the bad points of their administration, promises to fix them, but doesn’t tell us how he will do so.
Clinton: He looks back at history to prove that the democrats can create more jobs than then republicans. In 52 years the republicans have created 24 million jobs and the democrats have created 42 million. This is a really strong point.
Obama: He said the government can’t solve all problems and the government is not the source of all problems. Romney blames all our problems on the democrats. He says that Osama Bin Ladin is dead and General Motors is alive. He keeps repeating it because those are his greatest accomplishments in the past 4 years. I believe that this line will help him win the election.
After watching both Ryan and Romney Speech they both have a lot of weak points. During Romney speech, he talked way too much about his personal life and instead not about how he could improve the country. He didnt talk much about how he could help the troops or minority. Ryan speech was okay, it wasnt great. His plan on getting the country back in shape did catch my attention. He discussed the unemployment problem which is a growing factor in this country. I didnt like how Ryan attacked Obama for spending money for on Health Care. He stated that americans didnt asked for it to me fixed. Maybe First class americans didnt ask for it to get fixed, but im sure middle class citizens did , Because thats who needed it the most. Bill Clinton speech supported Obama and his ideas very well.
ReplyDelete-Alyssa Linley
In both Mitt Romey's and Paul Ryan's speeches they only talked about the things they were going to do if they get elected such as promising jobs to people in America in the future and attacking President Obama. I think a weak point in Mitt Romney's speech was that it was dull and felt like he made his point at the end of his speech. In Bill Clinton's and President Obama's speeches they talked about the current issues like education and fixing the economy.
ReplyDeleteI think that a weak point in both Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan's speeches is that they spent too much time attacking Barack Obama. A strong point was that they talked about what their plan was if they were elected. A strong point in Barack Obamas speech was that his speech would have appealed to many people in the middle class. I thought a weak point in Barack Obamas speech was that he said he would hire more teachers and still cut the defect by 4 trillion dollars which sid make sense to me
ReplyDeleteThe republicans spent a lot of time describing how the Democrats were wrong, so Obama was the better speaker. However in the direction Obama seems to be leading our country, there won't be a future generation because of the tax he's offering.
ReplyDeleteI feel Mitt Romney focused too much on mudslinging towards Obama instead of speaking about their future. Romney said that America needs a change that Obama could not give but he failed to tell us about how he plans to bring that change. He blamed the Democratic party for the problems in America which didn't make much sense to me. His strongest point was him mentioning that Obama has made America fear for the future which I believe is true and is also the reason so many Americans are involved in this election. Ryan had a strong point when he mention that nothing would change in the next 4 years if America didn't change its leader.
ReplyDeleteClintons speech wasn't very convincing. I don't feel like he believes what he says about Obama I believe it is just his support to try and keep a Democrat in office. He had a strong point when he pointed out that history proves that Democrats have made more jobs than Republics have.
I feel that the republicans spent too much time on bashing the Democratic party and Obama. Mitt Romney said that America needed change and that Obama wasn't the change America needed. The strongest point mention Romney's and Ryan's speeches is that our situation in America would not change if its leader didn't change
ReplyDeleteI feet as if the republican should have focus more on explaining what issues that they to fix instead of talking about the problems and not have a solution. Another thing is that instead of bashing obama care they should focus on what they can do to make america one of the top nation again.
ReplyDeleteI feel like Obama it’s a better public speaker and I really liked his speech, he has good ideas that I really like but I think he’s not going to be able to accomplish them. Romney’s speech wasn’t as motivated as Obama’s speech but he has positive points like people should work one job but with a better pay check, I think that republicans are always complaining about democrats how every problem In the United States it’s because of them, I think they should focused more in solving them than complaining and blame the democrats. Ryan is a really good public speaker too, what I really like about his speech it’s that he believes that if we change our leader and get someone new, the country will be in a better shape and I really believe that this is what the country needs. I was not motivated by Clinton’s speech because I think he feels the need to do it so he can get Obama more votes, and also to regain people love for him, because of all the mistakes he made in the past even though he was a really good president.
